Alum

Alum (pronounced /ˈæləm/) is both a specific chemical compound and a class of chemical compounds. The specific compound is the hydrated aluminium potassium sulfate with the formula KAl(SO4)2.12H2O. The wider class of compounds known as alums have the related stoichiometry, AB(SO4)2.12H2O.

Alum used in Cosmetic:
1.Alum in block form (usually potassium alum) is used as an aftershave, rubbed over the wet, freshly shaved face.

2.Styptic pencils containing aluminium sulfate or potassium aluminium sulfate are used as astringents to prevent bleeding from small shaving cuts.

3.Alum was used as a base in skin whiteners and treatments during the late 16th Century. A recipe for one such compound was given thus :
"For the Freckles which one getteth by the heat of the Sun: Take a little Allom beaten small, temper amonst it a well brayed white of an egg, put it on a milde fire, stirring it always about that it wax not hard, and when it casteth up the scum, then it is enough, wherewith anoint the Freckles the space of three dayes: if you will defend your self that you get no Freckles on the face, then anoint your face with the whites of eggs." —Christopher Wirzung, General Practise of Physicke, 1654.

4.Alum may be used in depilatory waxes used for the removal of body hair, or applied to freshly waxed skin as a soothing agent.

5.In the 1950s, men sporting crewcut or flattop hairstyles sometimes applied alum to their front short hairs as an alternative to pomade[citation needed]. When the hair dried, it would stay up all day.

6.Alum's antibacterial properties contribute to its traditional use as an underarm deodorant. It has been used for this purpose in Europe; Mexico; Thailand, where it is called Sarn-Som; throughout Asia; and in the Philippines, where it is called Tawas. Today, potassium alum is sold commercially for this purpose as a "deodorant crystal," often in a protective plastic case.

Alum? menatang apa plak ni pn.lilly merepek nih..ok aku tau u all dak kompius kan bila baca yg perenggan atas tu,tapi tengok kegunaan alum dlm kosmetik mesti dapat bayangkan dah skit2...ok alum ni dalam bahasa kampung nya adalah TAWAS..korang tau tawas tu apa?..sila google kalau tak tau!

ok sebenarnya ada org bagi petua mengenai kegunaan alum/tawas nih..akak tu ceta kat aku yg org selalu tanya dia guna produk apa sebab ketiak dia tak hitam berkarat..putih melepak jer..hehe..ops ni isu kewanitaan yg aku rasa kita patut share beramai-ramai..wpun anda bertudung and tak pakai sleeveless..takkan nak biaq ketiak tu hitam berkarat?tak semestinya yang pakai sleeveless aja yg kena jaga ketiak..bg aku kalau dah namanya pompuan mesti kena jaga dari ujung rambut sampai ujung kaki..tak kisah lah kulit kita putih, kuning, merah, coklat or hitam kan..janji kulit licin dan sehat and yang paling penting BERSIH and badan tak berbau..

ok2...menurut cakap akak tu..dia mmg gunakan tawas sejak zaman anak dara lagi..skang ni dia dah 40++..dulu guna tawas dlm bentuk ketul tu..tapi skang kat toko2 jamu dah ada jual air tawas dlm botol..kalau tak silap aku RM12 jer sebotol..cara nak guna mudah jer..ambik facial cotton pastu tuang air tawas kemudian gososk kat ketiak or tempat2 lain yg mudah berdaki..amalkan selalu yer..

meh kita try beramai2..aku pun tak pernah try lagi..baru nak gi kedai jamu cari air tawas tu..

Stim Campak Ala Kampung

Kali ni aku nak share resepi fav aku..asik makan lauk kedai ja boring gak..kdg2 sampai taktau nak beli lauk apa..semalam ni memandangkan ada separuh lg ikan(serius tak tau ikan apa ntah) dlm freezer tu..so timbul idea nak wat stim..nama masakan tu aku hentam aja tau..resepi ni aku selalu tgk mak aku masak kt umah dolu2 nih.kiranya resepi tradisional my mum...kalau ada bawal putih lagi sedap..senang jer nak masak..kalau susah konfirm aku tak masak punya...hehehe

Bahan-Bahan
Ikan-terpulang kepada selera anda
Serai (2 batang)-potong nipis2
Halia(2 inci)-potong nipis2
Lengkuas(i inci)-potong nipis2
Cili Padi-aku suka pedas so letak dlm 6 biji
Bawang besar(3 ulas)-Potong tebal2,tapi terpulang lah u all nak pakai bawang merah pun ok jer..
Asam keping-1/2 keping terpulang kepada selera anda..
Garam-secukup rasa
Gula-1 sudu kecik
Sos Ikan-3 sudu kecik
Pati Ikan Bilis-Ikut selera anda, semalam aku guna 1/2 kiub ayam sebab ikan bilis punya dah habis..
Cara Memasak
Potong nipis semua bahan (serai, halia, lengkuas) kemudian masukkan dlm mangkuk..kemudian letak sekali bawang yg dah dipotong dengan cili padi..ops jgn lupa plak masukkan sekali ikan yg dah dibersihkan tu..pastu masukkan garam, gula, pati ikan bilis..sos ikan tu tuang kat atas ikan...jgn letak air yer u all..panaskan periuk stim dlm 10 minit, pastu masukkan mangkuk dlm periuk stim..dlm 15 minit cuba rasa kuah yang ada dlm mangkuk berisi ikan tu..kalau tak cukup rasa bleh la tambah apa2 yg patut..kalau suka kuah yang banyak bleh tambah air skit..sebab kuah stim tu tak berapa banyak..
Aku suka rasa serai/halia/lengkuas dlm kuah tu..tapi kalau u all tak berapa suka rasa bahan2 tu boleh kurangkan yer...masakan ni mmg main campak2 jer..style kampung,tu yg aku suka sangat..yg penting sekali menyihatkan..sesuai utk yg berdiet...hehe..selamat mencuba..
